They go too far and then, not far enough

Boys in their fumbling curiosity

And ignorance masquerading as courage

Will be tempted

To snatch the top right off a hand grenade

And throw it as far as they can

Whether to impress their friends

Or practice their throwing hand

I will never understand

The strange wicked force

That drives young innocent boys to become men
