Disinheriting the Meek

the artist who rendered my image
distorted so many of my features
a grin pulled taut and crooked
one tooth blackened, one missing
i love to hate him
god has forsaken me
for several important minutes
while my umbilical cord
should’ve been disentangling
he got distracted
so if i found my twin
there’s no doubt
I would forsake him
I’d be looking for
someone different
someone with a
thick, strong neck
all clean and smiling
someone who wouldn’t remind me
of who i should’ve been
had god not gone missing
someone who doesnt resemble
my old, unhappy ending
