I took my grandmother’s name, and I’m keeping it

my grandmother had a health, condition , too.

at eighty, she begged for them to pull the plug.

at almost thirty, i beg for it, too.

they laugh, georgia, georgia, that wasn’t the question

i was asking.

we say oh doctor, just unplug it, unplug it.

and the doctor laughs, unplug what?

There’s no machine.

it’s time, against your better instinct,

to live, just keep on living.

Ugh, we think, well, this is annoying.
